What are polynucleotides?
Polynucleotides are highly purified fragments of DNA. Injected into the skin, they support its natural repair processes: they help stimulate fibroblasts, the cells that make collagen and elastin, encourage cell turnover and improve hydration. The result is thicker, healthier-looking skin over time.
Trisha uses Plinest Eye, a polynucleotide treatment designed for the eye area. It is one she has had herself, so she can tell you honestly what it feels like and what to expect afterwards.
Who is it for?
- Under-eyes that look tired, dark or hollow because the skin is thin.
- Fine lines and crêpey texture around the eyes.
- People who want an improvement without adding filler volume under the eye.
- Men and women alike; it is one of the treatments Trisha recommends for dark circles in men.
Hollows caused by a deep tear trough or eye bags from fat pads are a different problem. At your consultation Trisha will explain which concern you have and which treatment, if any, will help.
Your treatment
After cleansing, Plinest Eye is placed with a series of very fine injections or a cannula. Because the skin around the eyes is so delicate, there is always some risk of swelling and bruising; small bumps can last a day or two. Most people plan treatment for a quieter week.
Polynucleotides work gradually. Most people need a course of treatments a few weeks apart, with results building over the following months.
Aftercare
Avoid make-up on the area for 24 hours, skip strenuous exercise and alcohol for a day, and don't rub your eyes. A cold compress can help with swelling. Trisha will give you written aftercare and is available afterwards if you have any concerns.
Polynucleotides or skin boosters?
Both improve skin quality. Polynucleotides focus on repair and regeneration and are especially useful for very thin skin. Skin boosters focus on hydration. Some clients benefit from both as part of a plan, which Trisha will talk through with you.
Questions about polynucleotides
How many polynucleotide sessions will I need?
Usually a course of treatments a few weeks apart. Trisha will recommend a plan for your skin at consultation.
Does under-eye treatment bruise?
It can. The skin around the eyes is delicate, so some swelling or bruising is always possible. It usually settles within days.
Are polynucleotides the same as filler?
No. They don't add volume. They support the skin's own repair, improving thickness, texture and hydration over time.
